Who doesn't love a fun Fourth of July with all our friends and family gathered around enjoying a cookout, fireworks and of course dessert. If you are searching for a quick last minute Fourth of July dessert these deliver and are inexpensive, fun and will delight any age.
These frozen desserts are super easy, ya'll. I made these for this years Fourth of July activities and they have been a hit! All you need are a couple packages of ice cream sandwiches (unless you're an extra high achiever and want to make your own) and popsicle molds.
For the ice cream sandwiches unwrap the sandwiches and on an already prepared plate of sprinkles in red, white and blue (we used separate plates for the varying types of sprinkles). Firmly press the sides of the ice cream sandwiches into the sprinkles and then place on a plate. You can make these ahead and refreeze them or if you're ready to serve them use a cake plate, tray, etc.
For the popsicles you can use plain greek yogurt for a healthier version, vanilla ice cream, gelato, etc. Chop up some washed strawberries and blueberries and mix in a bowl with your choice of yogurt, ice cream, gelato, etc. Use a popsicle mold and fill the mixture into the mold, then freezing until solid. Serve on an ice cold plate atop ice if needed. Optional; serve with drizzled chocolate sauce, caramel, etc. Popcorn in cute red, white and blue bags make for a fun and healthy side to this dessert.
Decorate your table with pretty red, white and blue cloths, napkins, votives in red, white and blue and twinkle lights overhead. Place small clay or glazed flower pots or vases on the table with mini American flags in them... for greenery use a jade plant, ivy or succulents. Adorn outdoor seating with hand sewn pillows using red, white and blue bandannas from the dollar store with fill with stuffing.
I truly believe we don't have to stress ourselves out about this type of stuff... entertaining should be fun and fuss-free! Tablescapes can have big impact on very little expense and effort. Use what you have and add a little if necessary. Have games and fun for the kids like an outdoor bean bag toss, bubble wands, water balloons, etc. I hope this post helped with some last minute ideas for Fourth of July desserts, setting your table and ideas to entertain the kids. Happy Fourth of July!
